10 Great Ideas for Valentine’s Day with your Love

How much are you excited for Valentine’s Day? Is it perhaps your first love or just young love? Or perhaps you are planning on your wedding/Ruracio or you have been married for more than 10 years? Valentine’s Day is a special day to celebrate love and romance. It’s the perfect chance to show your loved one how much they mean to you, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.

Most people have no further ideas beyond buying flowers for Valentine’s Day. That is why we are here to help. We’ve put together ten of our favorite ideas for doing something fun with your special someone this Valentine’s Day.

Breakfast in Bed

Breakfast is one of the meals that we rarely put much effort into in Kenya because of the morning rush to get to work or get the kids ready for school. Breakfast in bed is a classic Valentine’s Day idea, and it never fails to make your partner feel special. It’s also a great way to spend some quality time together before work or school.

By now you know each other well enough to know what a special breakfast should have. Make sure you get your supplies early enough and you can both get involved in making the breakfast in your PJs or something really sexy if it is just the two of you in the house. If one of you is the one that makes breakfast every day, you can give them a break on this special day and make a complete breakfast for them as they wait in bed.

Do Something Outdoors for Just the Two of You

The ideas on this list are all about doing something with your significant other, but there’s a difference between doing something indoors and outdoors. When you’re inside, you have access to all the things that make Valentine’s Day special: candles, music, food and drink. But when you’re outside, those things are harder to come by—but not impossible. But best of all, you have each other.

If you can find a park with picnic tables or an open space in a nearby park, you’ll probably be able to set up for some great food and drinks. You will have deep heart-to-heart conversations in such a setting and even be able to plan your relationship and future together. It’s also fun because it gives both of you ways to relax while still being active together; it’s easy to get bored sitting around at home when there are so many other options available out there!

Picnic at Karura Forest

The Karura Forest is a great place to go for a romantic picnic, nature walk or couple biking. There are beautiful picnic sites near the various entrances to the forest.  You can also find benches and places to have your picnic in different locations within the forest. The forests offer plenty of privacy and beautiful scenery, so it’s easy to feel like you’re having your lunch just for yourselves.

If you’re not in Nairobi, don’t worry! There are plenty of other forests across the country with the same setting and ambience. Just research on the forests protected by Kenya Forests Services to find out the closest you can access. The experience is therapeutic and it will make your Valentine’s Day extra special.

A coffee date does not require much time but the short time spent together will be invaluable. Java is an excellent choice, as they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Not only do they serve great cold brews, but they offer many healthy alternatives to regular coffee drinks.

Not only will this make your loved one feel special and cared for but it also gives you an opportunity to show off how much fun it can be to cook together on Valentine’s Day.

Go on a Short Road Trip

Road trips are a classic Valentine’s Day tradition and if you can get the day off, why not? You and your significant other can explore new places in our beautiful country, Kenya. It may feel like an old idea, but there’s something special about driving through remote roads in Kenya with someone who knows you better than anyone else in the world. Just remember to have your romantic playlist with you as you enjoy the road trip.

Depending on what your budget is or how much time you have, you can even consider visiting the nearby towns outside the country like Kampala in Uganda or Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Explore a New Kenyan Town

Kenya is a beautiful country and no one can say they have fully explored every corner of the country. Point on the map and go to beautiful destinations, you will be amazed at what you will discover along the way.

Whether you’re in Nairobi or elsewhere, consider exploring together especially if both of you have the spirit of adventure. Take the time to get out of your comfort zone and visit somewhere totally new. Learn the different cultures and appreciate the diversity Kenya has to offer.

You could go to the beach, a museum or even just an area with restaurants and shops or enjoy local delicacies from different parts. If it’s somewhere close by then it will take no time at all but if it’s further away then make sure you enjoy yourselves fully so that you are able to appreciate what each other does for Valentine’s Day.

Go Out for Karaoke Night

Karaoke night is a fun activity to do with your love if they are into this kind of thing (or not). It’s like a musical theatre but you don’t have to be good at singing, just make sure you sing together and have fun. There is nothing impossible after a few glasses of wine. You may think he or she is too shy for this kind of fun but as long as you have some wine, the karaoke will definitely be fine.

There are many karaoke bars in Nairobi where you can go for this date idea. Do your research and choose one that will be convenient for you and what you have planned for your Valentine’s Day.

Visit a Local Museum

If you’re looking for a way to spend some quality time with your significant other, but don’t want to spend too much money, consider checking out a local museum or cultural/historical monuments and locations. Most museums in Kenya are offer relatively low admission fees. Citizens enjoy these low charges throughout the year and there is so much to learn and appreciate when you visit.

And since most museums have been around forever, they usually have a lot of fun exhibits and activities that will suit any taste or age group. Find out what sites you can explore near you and go enjoy the perfect date just the two of you.

Besides the cost savings and potential educational value of going on a date at a museum (or “museuming,” as it’s sometimes called), the best part is that there’s always something new happening there. You can visit regularly so that each trip feels like an adventure instead of just another trip back home again.

Watch a Romantic Movie with your Love

One of the best things you can do with your loved one is to watch a romantic movie together. There are many options available, so it’s important to choose one that both of you like. There are so many options you can find on Netflix, Showmax or Amazon Prime. With the Valentine’s day drawing near, there are very many movies coming up as well so that you can watch something totally new together.

Some movie ideas for Valentine’s include:

  • A classic romantic film
  • An action-packed adventure
  • A comedy movie (if you really want to have a good time)

The key here is making sure that the lights are low and there are no distractions around. This will allow both of you to cuddle up and focus on what’s happening on screen and enjoy each other’s company in peace. If watching movies at home isn’t feasible, you can opt to go to your nearest mall to catch a movie.
